  BEVERLEY TOWN PLAN

 

Beverley Town Council, Molescroft & Woodmansey Parish Councils together with ERYC have been working towards the preparation of a Town Plan for the last 18 months.  The aim of preparing a Town Plan is to provide a mechanism by which the town (Local Authorities, Business Sector, Community Groups and the general public) are able to influence the future development of Beverley as a principle town within the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Stage 1 – Baseline Analysis – Now complete

In order to prepare any visioning plan for the town it has been necessary to ascertain what is already in existence and consequently what is lacking.  This exercise has now been completed and a number of documents have been produced:

 -  Background analysis looking at statistical analysis in the areas of:

1.  Population & Households
2.  Enterprise and Employment
3.  Education & Skills
4.  Lifestyle
5.  Community Development
6.  The Environment
7.  Retail Sector

This is an informative stand alone document and provides an independent and impartial view point on the town's current position

Policy Appraisal looking at what local, regional and national policies that have relevance to Beverley and how the town can work with these policies for its continued development.  Again this is an informative stand alone document and will prove useful in considering development option in the future

Urban Design Analysis looking at the visual aspects of the town, how areas of the town link with one another, how people use the town both by foot and by road and how future development in the town can be accommodated without having a detrimental effect on other areas.

Comparator Towns looking at how Beverley compares with towns of a similar make up in terms of population, county town functionality, proximity to a city, architectural and green space and attraction for tourists.

SWOT Assessment looking at Beverley’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, given the information obtain in the previous three documents.
