A festive message from Councillor Tom Astell, Mayor of Beverley
The season of goodwill is upon us, and as we prepare to celebrate this special time of year, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
There is no denying that this year has been a particularly challenging and difficult one. The Coronavirus pandemic has severely restricted our everyday lives and brought misery to many within our community. However, our community has come together with neighbours supporting each other and businesses stepping up, adapting their businesses and providing lifeline services to the most vulnerable people in our community.
This sense of community spirit underlines what a truly special town we live in. A town I am proud to represent as your Mayor and call home. No matter what the challenges our community faces, people pull together to overcome adversity. It is my strong belief that we will come through this current period stronger and closer than ever before.
In normal times, the festive period is time for families and friends to come together, for sharing special moments and creating memories. This Christmas will be different, bringing with it different challenges. Some residents will face a heightened period of loneliness with many unable to see families and friends. It is at this special time of year that we must come together, by supporting our neighbours, checking up on vulnerable residents and spreading some much-needed festive cheer to those who may not otherwise receive it.

I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all carers and Key Workers, whose unwavering dedication to providing the highest service to our community throughout the various restrictions we have lived through, is truly appreciated.
A town such as ours depends heavily on the many talents and time selflessly shared by these remarkable individuals and groups.
On behalf of Councillors and staff at Beverley Town Council, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and may 2021 be a prosperous, peaceful and pandemic-free year.
