Community Event in Memory of Ivan Usher
Sunday 26th June 2022 will see a major event at East Riding Leisure Beverley, when many local organisations, sports clubs and local residents will come together for the Ivan Usher Community Celebration, from 10am to 3pm.
The event will be a joint initiative between East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s health and wellbeing team, East Riding Leisure Beverley and The Usher family, and will be a tribute to the memory of Ivan Usher, after whom a stand is named at Beverley Town FC. Ivan taught PE at Longcroft School for approximately 30 years before his family set up and ran a Fitness Centre in Beverley. He was an extremely respected teacher and sportsman and inspired and influenced many people.
On the day, local rugby and football clubs will take part in a range of junior tournaments, competing for the Ivan Usher Cup. There will also be opportunities for the public to take part in a wide range of sports and activities. The event will also be a chance for local voluntary community groups to take an information stall and let the community know what is going on in the local area.
