Beverley Town Council is pleased to publish the final reports from the External Auditor (PKF Littlejohn) for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 Financial Years, following a delay of several months whilst they considered matters raised my members of the electorate.

Each year, Beverley Town Council must appoint an independent Internal Auditor to examine their financial accounts and statements.  The current Internal Auditor is Internal Audit Yorkshire

The Council is also required to complete an Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR), which includes the findings of the Internal Auditor, together with Governance and Financial Statements. The AGAR is then submitted to the independent External Auditor for examination.  The External Auditor is appointed by the Audit Commission at a national level – the Town Council has no input into this appointment.  The current External Auditor is PKF Littlejohn.

In addition, all AGAR documents, Internal Audit Reports and External Audit reports must be made available on the Town Council’s website.

As part of this process, members of the electorate have the right to raise matters with the External Auditor if they have issues regarding the AGAR documents the Town Council has submitted.

For both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 AGAR returns, members of the electorate raised issues with the External Auditor.  Although it has taken some time, Beverley Town Council is pleased that the PKF Littlejohn has now concluded their investigation into the matters raised.  You can find the reports, related and documents and more information via the following links:
