Food Festival Postponed
After much careful consideration, it is with regret that Beverley Town Council will not be running the Beverley Food Festival this year.
Due to a number of factors, including health and safety during ongoing Covid concerns, Councillors have resolved to not hold the event this year as usual on the first Sunday in October. They will be considering alternative ways to run it in 2022.
The festival is highly successful and very popular, drawing upwards of 40,000 people, which in the current climate could pose health risks. Councillors appreciate that this news will disappoint food producers, residents and visitors, but unlike other food events that are held in large ticketed venues, it is not possible to run the Beverley Food Festival in the same way. Due to the free and open nature of the event and layout of the Market Place (with various lanes, roads and alleys that lead in to it), controlling crowd numbers would be practically very difficult, especially when the Government has yet to finalise details regarding how such large events will be able to take place and what precautions organisers will have to follow.
The Town Council apologises for any disappointment caused, but hopes people will understand why this difficult decision has been made.
If anyone has any questions regarding the Festival of Christmas, which traditionally takes place throughout the Town Centre in December, please note that this is not managed by Beverley Town Council.
