The Mayor of Beverley, Cllr Linda Johnson, recently visited the Beverley Job Centre Plus, to find out about the work carried out help support residents in to new employment and skills opportunities.
Following the visit, Cllr Johnson (pictured here with Job Centre Plus staff) said: “I was very interested to hear how job-seekers are helped in so many ways today, to achieve their aims and ambitions and get a job which matches their skills and needs.”
She learnt how clients are offered training courses and coaching from a whole raft of providers, which work with them holistically to increase confidence and remove barriers which may be preventing them reaching their potential. It was also clear there are so many different jobs and careers available nowadays that there isn’t a one size fits all. But because the approach now is to work flexibly and positively with job-seekers, opportunities open up that were not always available in the past.
The Mayor added: “I spoke to people on the day who have been helped into work by this refreshing approach and who speak very highly of the Job Centre Plus and associated staff. For anyone who is out of work who would like to explore job opportunities, this warm and welcoming place, based in Crosskill House on Mill Lane, would love to meet you.”
